At Cedar Apparel, every garment is customisable by design and made locally in Cape Town, South Africa.
From pattern making and fabric selection to cutting, sewing, printing, and embroidery, our process is handled in-house or through trusted local partners. This gives us full control over quality, fit, and finish — and allows us to tailor every piece to the needs of the crew wearing it.
Our production capabilities include pattern making and sewing, sublimation printing, DTF and UV DTF printing, silkscreen printing, and embroidery — enabling us to create everything from performance teamwear to durable work uniforms and fashionable lifestyle pieces.
The result is apparel that doesn’t just carry a logo, but reflects purpose, precision, and pride.
Sublimation Printing
Sublimation printing is a digital technique that uses heat and pressure to transform ink into a gas that bonds permanently with polyester fibres or polymer coatings, creating a professional, "no-feel" finish where the design is embedded into the material rather than sitting on top.
Brands should consider it because it offers unmatched durability—designs will never crack, peel, or fade—while allowing for vibrant, photo-quality detail and seamless, all-over prints that are impossible to achieve with traditional methods. It is the ideal choice for high-performance sportswear, branded merchandise, and small-batch collections where comfort and long-lasting quality are essential for maintaining a premium brand image.
DTF Printing
Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing is a modern versatile technique where designs are printed onto a specialized polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film, coated with an adhesive powder, and then heat-pressed onto the final substrate.
Brands should consider it because it bridges the gap between screen printing and sublimation, offering vibrant, full-colour graphics that can be applied to virtually any fabric, including dark cotton, polyester, and blends, without the heavy setup costs of traditional methods. It is a highly attractive option for brands focusing on on-demand production and intricate logos, as it provides a durable, slightly textured finish with excellent stretchability that maintains its integrity even after numerous washes.
Silkscreen Printing
Silkscreen printing is a traditional stencil-based technique where thick ink is pressed through a fine mesh screen directly onto the material, creating a rich, tactile layer of colour that is synonymous with high-end retail quality.
Brands should consider it because it offers the lowest per-unit cost for high-volume production and provides an iconic, "heavy" ink feel and unmatched colour vibrancy that digital methods struggle to replicate. It is the gold standard for brands requiring exact Pantone colour matching and extreme longevity, making it the preferred choice for premium streetwear, corporate uniforms, and promotional merchandise that needs to withstand years of heavy wear and industrial washing.
Digital Embroidery
Digital embroidery is a precision-led technique where specialized software converts artwork into digital stitch files that are then executed by high-speed, multi-needle machines, resulting in a sophisticated, three-dimensional texture.
Brands should consider it because it adds an immediate sense of prestige and perceived value to any garment, offering a professional aesthetic that is far more durable than any print method. It is the premier choice for brands focusing on corporate identity and luxury apparel, as the thread resists fading and remains perfectly intact through heavy laundering, ensuring that logos and insignia maintain a crisp, premium appearance for the entire lifespan of the product.
